Package description

Day 1 - Adventure & Camping - Mamori river

At 08:00 a.m.  – Leave the hotel by car to the river port Ceasa (20 minutes). Take a speedboat to the village “Careiro da Varzea” (30 minutes). At this point we will be passing the meeting of the waters, where the Negro and Solimões Rivers meet (Encontro das Aguas). This is where the Amazon River is formed, flowing from this area all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. It is truly a magnificent sight to see. The two rivers run side by side without mixing for many kilometers and you will most likely be visited by a few curious river dolphins as well.

After a stop at the fruit market, take a bus or van to the Araça River via the Manaus-Porto Velho highway (40 minutes BR319). By boat we will pass through many lakes and small wildlife abundant creeks, where you will have the opportunity to see the incredible giant Amazon water lilies (Vitoria Regia) with their enormous floating leaves.

You will also pass by native villages and the floating houses of Caboclo’s village. This length of the trip is ideal for observing wildlife due to the abundance of many varied species, such as birds, alligators, fish, sloth, and monkeys. During this trip to the lodge you have the opportunity to stumble on a creature at anytime. Arrival at Amazon Turtle Lodge after 50 minutes ride by boat, it is scheduled arrival around 12:00 p.m.  Lu have lunch before start the Kayaking tour. Guests will take orientation how to use the kayak.

Starting the adventure along the Mamori river by Kayaking, on the way it is possible to see one of the biggest tree in the Amazônia “Samauma” (Ceiba pentandra) with 30 or 40 m high and a trunk with 160 diameters and different species of birds and caimans (South American relative of the Crocodile).

Arriving at the (Kayaking Expeditions Camp), time to prepare the camp and set up the hammocks and if still daylight guests will go out on a reconnaissance tour around the area by kayak. Return to the (Kayaking Expeditions Camp).

After guest will have a nice and interesting talking with, ours experienced tours guides following by a good “Caipirinha”.

Day 2 - Welcome to the jungle & Survival tours

05:00 a.m. – Sunrise and Bird Watching tour by Kayak exploring the area and return to the camp to have Breakfast.

Experiences of the day:

  • This morning we go out for a jungle trek;
  • Guide will explain about jungle survival techniques;
  • Guide will show techniques as how to use wine as ropes;
  • How to climb trees;
  • How to find water and also food;
  • Alligator spotting;

Of course, you’ll learn about our biodiversity, after the interesting tour we go back to the camp for a good lunch and take a rest.

Who wants be more adventure can swim in the black water of this region.

03:00 p.m. we will go piranha fishing. Just to let you know on this adventure you have to catch piranha or something else. Otherwise there will be no dinner (just joking!!!).

After dinner, guests will go on a nocturnal excursion to spot Caimans and listen to the sounds of the Rainforest by night. During this excursion our guides will try catch a caiman by hand. The history, physical characteristics, and the gestation period will be explained to guests take photos and if someone wants to hold it.

Return to the (Kayaking Expeditions Camp). Guests will be able for a short period to live as a native people. It will be a lifetime lasting memory.

Day 3 - Birdwatching, local culture & regional plantations

05:00 a.m. – Early morning sunrise and bird watching tour by kayak, this time is considering the best time to see the animals, birds and with a bit luck Pink Dolphins of the Amazon can be seeing. At 08:30 Guests will leave by kayak to the Amazon Turtle Lodge, arriving on time to lunch. It will be served at 12:30.

Experiences of the day:

  • Opportunity to visit a caboclo’s house;
  • Learn about their customs, culture, and traditions;
  • Visit rubber and cassava plantation;
  • Visit other interesting points to see and feel the way of life of the local native people;

This is a great opportunity to take photos of the local custom see how collect fruits in the jungle as Brazil nuts, herbs, vegetables and spices. Check out how they prepare their food using all this goods and if you want can even taste some of this exotic products or if prefer a second jungle trek tour to get know more about medical plants.

Tour guide will give information of medical plants and for what sickness they can be used, information that has been passed through generation to generation of native Indian tribes of the Amazon.

You will have an opportunity to see the rubber gum tree (seringueira), see how is the process of fabrication of the natural rubber by the extraction of the latex from the trunk of the tree without chopping the tree. Return to Amazon Turtle Lodge. At 07:30 p.m. Dinner.

Day 4 - Return to Manaus

Time to say good bye! After breakfast, return to Manaus around 08:30 a.m. Drop off can be at airport or hotel of your choice.

We recommend a medium Backpack, which will be used during your jungle adventure, with the following items:

Passport, vaccinations and health report

We will need copies of the picture page of your passport and vaccination cards. Recommended that you take the yellow fever shot and bring medications for any existing previous conditions you may have. I am personally against taking the malaria pill, and there is no proof of its effectiveness.

The side effects can also be greater than the symptoms sometimes, and there are very few cases detected in a single year, but it this is ultimately your choice. Please let us know of any existing conditions you may have that we should be aware of, such as allergies, diabetes, heart and blood pressure problems. We will keep this information confidential.
